Friends of Redstart School is the fundraising group of The Redstart Primary School. We hold events such as summer fayre, Christmas fayre, Redstart fun run, family bingo, school discos, school photographs etc.
We are a very successful group and raise several thousand pounds each year to buy equipment and resources that every child in the school can use. We are always fully supported by Mrs Flack and the teaching staff at our events.
Some of the larger items that we have purchased or contributed towards include the outside amphitheatre, the trim trail on the field and the cooker for children to use in the kitchen. We also pay a substantial amount towards the school trips for the children to enjoy and learn from as well as in-house workshops and this helps to keep the cost down for the parent. Teachers and children are also able to request the help of F.o.R.S. in purchasing smaller items. We also give each year group, Forest School and the Early Years Centre funds to spend in their classes.
Your child’s time at Redstart School goes so quickly – when they go to Secondary School, parents are not required to help so much. Therefore we would be very grateful if you would please consider giving a small amount of your time to help us continue to make the events successful and help improve and enhance our school. Even if it is just to assist for one event a year, any help is welcome. Your child does benefit from our fundraising.
We currently need new members to help us with our events, any parents or grandparents are welcome. We meet approximately once a month either in the evening or during the day to discuss events. We really need some fresh ideas and new interest. If you are keen to help but are unsure how you would attend meetings we can often be flexible to accommodate children.

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HOW FUNDRAISING HELPS AND SUPPORTS EVERYONE AT SCHOOL:
F.O.R.S. PAY FOR THE COACH TO KILVE EACH YEAR – YEAR 6 SPEND A WEEK AT KILVE ACTIVITY CENTRE USING THE COACH FOR A RETURN JOURNEY AND ALSO DURING THE WEEK WHILST AWAY. THIS SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCES THE COST TO PARENTS FOR THIS ENJOYABLE WEEK
LARGE CONTRIBUTION TO SCHOOL TRIPS – THIS ENABLES ALL CHILDREN TO GO ON A SCHOOL TRIP ON A COACH I.E. HAYNES MOTOR MUSEUM, SUMMER BEACH TRIP, MONTACUTE HOUSE, PECORAMA.
THIS MONEY ALSO CONTRIBUTES TO IN-HOUSE WORKSHOPS I.E. BIRDS OF PREY, EGYPTIAN WORKSHOP, HENRY VIII TUDOR WORKSHOP.
THIS MEANS THAT THE PARENT/CARER PAYS MUCH LESS FOR THE TRIP OR WORKSHOP
